Rock Type: Dunite
Location: Nunavut, Canada
Description: The image is dominantly actinolite amphibole laths (elongated shapes) interstitial to intensely serpentinized (altered by the addition of water) olivine crystals (grey-white). As retrogression or breakdown of actinolite also occurs, chrome and titanium rich magnetite (black) begin to grow along cleavage planes. The rock was studied for its diamond potential.
