Rock Type: Lamprophyre Dike
Location: Wawa, Ontario
Description: The rock is an undeformed porphyritic lamprophyre dike. The principal mineral assemblage is pseudohexagonal and lath shaped biotite-phlogopite solid solution micas (brown-red). These grains are within a groundmass dominated by calcite and plagioclase laths. Magnetite grains (black) have formed on the margins of the biotite-phlogopite grains. The rock was studied for its diamond potential.
